Energy Is The Currency Of Life

Are you one of those people who “need” to have your coffee or even a red bull in the morning to get going? You don’t eat breakfast, so you grab a coffee and bagel on the way to work? By lunch, you’re starving and could eat the arm of your coworker? So you have lunch and feel much better, go back to work, and after about 90 mins you’re as tired as you were when you woke up that morning. You grab another coffee, or red bull, to wake up and so on goes the vicious cycle of yo-yo energy levels.

It’s not the caffeine in the coffee or red bull that’s giving you energy per se. It’s the response of your adrenal gland to the caffeine that’s giving you the energy by releasing the hormones cortisol and adrenaline which release stored energy in the body. When you’re involved in this daily cycle, there isn't one day that goes by where you haven’t been tired at least once or twice during that day. Some people tell me that even with these stimulants, they are pretty much tired the whole day and can hardly wait until bedtime. Hence the “wired and tired” cycle of daily living.

Your adrenal gland is working overtime and overproducing your stress hormone cortisol, and in doing so, it’s reducing your anabolic building and repair hormone called DHEA. Now, this is really where the trouble begins because, at this point, the body is breaking down skeletal muscle and bone in an attempt to use those proteins to fuel the rest of the body, particularly your brain, heart, kidneys, and liver for function. A decrease in your DHEA levels will also result in lowered testosterone and estrogen levels in most cases. The detriments of chronically elevated cortisol levels and reduced DHEA levels couldn’t even be thoroughly covered in a 1000 page scientific-referenced textbook.

Wouldn’t it make much more sense to have your body create energy naturally for you so you can avoid the ups and downs of artificially stimulated energy levels? Well, I guarantee you that this can not only be done but can be done with ease, and you'll never have to endure the tired and wired effects again. You’ll also be much healthier for it!

Through proper diagnostic biochemical testing, we can evaluate the state of the body and identify the cause or causes of reduced energy levels which leads to your stimulant use or abuse. Our bodies are functionally run and expressed through chemical signaling via neurotransmitters and hormones which need the appropriate nutrients to be able to function optimally. Without identifying nutrient deficiencies, we can never be specific in treatments to allow our bodies to produce the energy we need to meet our energy demands. It just makes too much sense!
